The Blues Sanctuary
A place for me to vent and create. I invite readers to share their musical experiences. I will share videos and pictures of my musical exploits, if for nothing else but for the sake of posterity and preserving as much of my music as I can.

It's been a wonderful weekend. Things are moving rapidly in our personal and professional lives. I was hoping to spend some time with my dad's family. But, everyone has their own personal family business to attend. I understand.
I have compiled a list of songs that I have done over the course of years. I then made a playlist of the songs I had decided would be part of my repertoire. I know there are more that I could be doing. But I want to ask those who know me. What songs do you know of that would be well-suited to my voice? It doesn't necessarily have to be a particular style.
I wrote this piece in less than 10 minutes for my daughter. For some strange reason, the video is showing in about 1.5x's the original speed while the audio is normal.
I'm also hoping that I can devote more time to writing. The move to the house should give me an opportunity to build an environment that is more conducive for writing and composing. It's been difficult these past few years to devote to this extension of my craft. I did it for some classes that I really enjoyed. If I am to write freely, I need musicians who can cover the parts. I would cover as much as I can. Once I actually have a private studio, I will be able to cover most the parts myself.
In the meantime, my lyrics and melodies will be personal. But my compositions will be simple.
I'm not trying to win awards or make millions. I just think it's time to start sharing music. I see it as an extension of myself. Like the painting or sculpture of an artist. Or the written page of an author or poet. I want to create for myself to share with you, the world.
The following is the start of something I wrote before I finished school, before I even took the Composition course or the Song Writing Course. I think this one has some potential...

And, here it is...
Welcome! Here it is. My attempt to leave a small divot on the face of the internet. I'm going to share my experiences and opinions. You may not always agree. You may feel free to offer a rebuttal. I'm open-minded and interested in learning new things, including new view points.
a little about myself:
I'm interested mostly in music, all things blues, video games and my family. I play some guitar. I played the euphonium in college and for the Marine Corp Band. I studied music intensely for some time.
At 16, I knew I wanted to be a music teacher. So, my life revolves around 3 things: Music, Fun and Family. I've added a few pictures to give you an idea of who I am. Feel free to leave comments or questions. I hope this blog entertains and informs. I also take requests. If there's a song you'd like to hear, let me know and I will try to come up with an unplugged arrangement.
